Seedy

Of my many passions, libraries and gardening are up there on the list.  So naturally, when I first learned about the UIC Jane Addams Hull House Seed Library I became… giddy.  This discovery led to me another of my passions: research.  For the highlights check out a great 2010 NYTimes article detailing the state of these libraries across the country.  Programs like this promote the endemicity of food crops that can increase local output, preserve genetic diversity, and promote heritage agriculture species.  [These oganizations are also a great platform from which to begin a dialogue about native species conservation and seed sharing]
